The Reception Course is structured into 3 teaching blocks, which include presentations, self-study, and online sessions. Your practical exam will consist of a presentation and a role-play exercise.

  • Understand the reception's role as a central point of contact
  • Responsibilities and tasks at the reception desk
  • Basics of teamwork and interdepartmental collaboration
  • Professional communication techniques 
  • Check-in and check-out procedures
  • Upselling and cross-selling strategies
  • Managing booking data and guest information
  • Legal requirements
  • Introduction to a reservation system

Content- and learning objectives:

  • Apply acquired knowledge in at least 3 days of hands-on experience at the employer's establishment, The Lab Hotel, or a partner businesses
  • Evaluate practical training through coaching in small groups
  • Create a learning journal for self-reflection (part of course promotion)
  • Prepare a presentation to enhance professional presence (part of course promotion)
  • Develop digital learning materials through self-study to deepen and reinforce knowledge

  • Enhance personal presentation skills
  • Manage complaints and handle difficult guests
